Can my existing smoke detectors be monitored?

This is one of the most common questions we receive. Unfortunately, most builder-installed or electrician-installed smoke detectors cannot be connected to a monitored security system. Monitored smoke detectors are specifically designed to communicate with your alarm system.

That means adding monitored fire protection usually requires installing smoke detectors that are compatible with your alarm. Your existing smoke detectors can remain in place, but only the monitored smoke detectors installed as part of your alarm system can send an emergency alarm signal directly to our monitoring center.

Many homeowners assume fire monitoring only works when their security system is armed. It doesn't.
